Dear Friends,
No matter what season you are in, no matter what your job is, life changing and life transformation moments can and do happen! I learned this, and so much more this past week when I had the opportunity to attend Todd Durkin’s 3.5 Day Mentorship Program in San Diego. Life transformation was not my expectation. I know what drives me. I love helping people to achieve their fitness and life goals. I love to make people happy and smile from the inside out. I love my job and I never want to do anything else. But I also knew I needed help with how I ran my business. I’m okay, but just barely nose-above-water okay. Excited and motivated that I received concrete and proven business systems from several of the very best professionals in the industry. I got to know Todd and meet his beautiful family. He’s truly an authentic, wise and inspirational leader.
What I hold close now, and didn’t expect, is the biggest impact and what I hope to share with you briefly.
BROKEN BUT SOLID
I am strong, but I felt broken. We need others to help us in this journey. I didn’t expect to meet 41 new world class friends from 5 countries and 14 states. I didn’t realize how lonely I was as a fitness professional. 41 names and faces are written on my heart and I’m empowered and grateful for them. I didn’t know what I didn’t know. I know I have daily moments of feeling smart and then feeling like I’ll never have what it takes to be successful. I learned from Todd, Fitness Quest 10 and his team the meaning of the word IMPACT.
I am my own worst enemy. The voice inside that says, I have too much work to do, I am so tired, I am overwhelmed. I don’t do enough for my family. I am not a “big box” gym. I’m old (just between us). I’m not that amazing great guy with that amazing great gym a few miles away. I’m afraid. For those of you who know me, you’re probably thinking this isn’t the person you know. Positive thinking is how I live. It’s true, but that voice in my head is there too, and that voice can get loud and clouds my purpose and my focus.
RUSHING WIND
I love my clients and they are some of my dearest friends. I train Ellen. She always has the best advice and a great sense of humor. She has been with me since I started and has always believed in me. I am always grateful for sweet Ellen. On our trail session we stopped at our bench and for the first time I noticed what someone had written. I almost cried. Then we felt a soft refreshing breeze blow near us. I heard in my head a song that I first heard in high school by Keith Green, Rushing Wind.
Rushing wind, blow through this temple,
Blowing out the dust within;
Come and breathe your breath upon me:
I’ve been born again.
IMPACT
I will share additional impact and practical applications from my experience in future blogs, but today want to end (or, I should say START) with the impact that Todd gifted to us:
I.M.P.A.C.T.
I — Live Inspired!! (Rejuvenate. Surround yourself with people that empower you, listen / read inspirational material)
M — Master your craft (1% Better everyday)
P — Play at world class (Get your mind right! Set goals daily, monthly, quarterly, and for life!)
A — ACTION (It’s the gas in the tank that makes the car go. Ready…FIRE…Aim!)
C — Condition for Greatness (Commitment to daily improvements of mind, body & spirit; best practices)
T — Be TENANCIOUS!! (Energy, passion & a positive attitude at all times)
I am always here for you! We are in this together!
Much love,
